| If a marriage has broken down irretrievably,
it is important that the financial and other consequences of the
breakdown are set out in a formal negotiated Agreement. This can
avoid the delay and expense of court proceedings.
A Separation Agreement would generally deal with:
• division of assets and liabilities
• maintenance payments
• the matrimonial home
• residence and contact arrangements for the children
• rights in a spouse’s estate prior to divorce
